We have extensive  experience in administrative and constitutional law. This includes litigation in the High Court, Supreme Court of Appeal and Constitutional Court, legislative drafting and providing of legal opinions.

Employment Law

We have extensive experience in acting for employers, trade unions and government in employment law matters. This includes participating in the drafting of the Labour Relations Act and other labour legislation, arguing precedent setting cases in various forums and providing opinions on complex employment law
 matters.

Our expertise extend beyond South Africa given the role played by members of our team in drafting labour legislation in several other jurisdictions. Our involvement in leading employment law publications also ensures that we remain at the forefront of labour law.


Forensic Investigations

We have seasoned forensic investigators who detect and investigate white-collar offences.
Once the problem has been identified we advise on how to deal with the perpetrators from a labour and criminal law perspective. We also assist in ensuring that adequate management systems are in place so that similar offences are not committed in the future.

Labour Law

We have vast experience in all aspects of labour law. We are often called upon to assist in highly complex labour matters for which there are no readily available solutions and where the consequences for our clients are significant.

Members of our team have advised major employers and trade unions on most aspects of labour law giving us a balanced view of the challenges which our clients face.

Municipal Law

We act on behalf of several municipalities, including metropolitan and district municipalities in various types of disputes. Our services in this area includes advising and litigating in respect of  employment law disputes, council disciplinary hearings, procurement and zoning issues.

We have experience in drafting and advising municipalities on by-laws and regulations. We also advise on proposed legislation impacting on municipalities, including preparing submissions on their behalf.


Pension Law

We have experience in advising pension funds, administrators, employers, bargaining councils and individual clients on pension related matters. Some of the areas covered include governance (trustee and PO duties and obligations), statutory and regulatory compliance, drafting rules and rule amendments, death claims, disability and ill-health retirement claims.

We have also appeared on behalf of clients before the Pension Fund Adjudicator, the FSB Appeals Tribunal and the High Court. Our team members have also been appointed to arbitrate pension disputes.


HR Consulting and Training

We have in-house HR expertise which means that we do not just advise clients on legal issues but are able to assist them with the practical implementation of the advice in the workplace. 

We have specific expertise in the areas of organisational design, leadership development and coaching.

Training is based on establishing the needs of clients and providing them with an appropriate training solution. Recent assignments include training senior municipal officials and councillors, updating private sector clients on proposed labour law amendments and teaching plain language drafting to selected clients.
